What You Want

Different lives, shared encounters.
What You Want brought together artists and curators from Korea and China through an exchange of letters. The image of a cake made from different slices offered a way to gather distinct experiences without blending them into a single voice.
Participants wrote about daily routines, artistic practice, work, cities and the conditions in which they live. Their letters became a way to approach the artworks and the lives around them. Questions of livelihood, movement, memory, bodies and circulating images emerged across these exchanges.
The exhibition asked how individual experience might help us understand difference. Translation, distance and the time spent waiting for a reply were part of that encounter. Each participant retained a particular place and perspective while becoming a point of reference for another.
